Green Construction Applications and Promotion of Low-Carbon Plastic-Steel Sheet Piles in River Management

Against the backdrop of the “Dual Carbon” strategy and the green transformation of water conservancy, traditional river management materials—such as concrete, steel sheets, and masonry—suffer from drawbacks including high carbon emissions, significant ecological disruption, susceptibility to corrosion, low recycling rates, and high operation and maintenance costs, making them ill-suited to meet the new requirements for ecological and low-carbon water management. Produced using a low-temperature extrusion process, this material reduces full-lifecycle carbon emissions by more than 50% compared to traditional reinforced concrete building materials and is 100% recyclable, truly achieving low-carbon and energy-efficient goals. Non-toxic, pollution-free, corrosion-resistant, and resistant to aging, it has a service life of up to 30 years in aquatic environments. It not only stabilizes riverbanks and slopes while preventing seepage and erosion but also preserves ecological connectivity between land and water, thereby supporting river ecological restoration.

Additionally, its modular assembly construction method eliminates the need for heavy machinery and wet operations, resulting in efficient, low-noise, dust-free construction with minimal ecological disturbance. It can be widely applied in scenarios such as ecological bank protection, levee reinforcement, river cofferdams, landscape water systems, and the management of saline-alkali coastal waterways. Combining low-carbon, ecological, economic, and social benefits, it offers lower full-lifecycle costs and complies with green construction standards, making it a core building material for promoting the green and low-carbon transformation of river management.
